Soccer:

It has been a successful fortnight for the school in terms of soccer, with the U-17 and U-15 teams both recording wins. The U-15 team had a good win over the Royal and Prior, with a score-line of 2-1, while the U-17 team had an impressive 8-1 victory away to Crana College.

Last year’s Ulster champions begin their campaign this Friday with a home match against the Royal and Prior. They will be looking to retain the title they earned last year and are optimistic about their chances.

Best of luck to sixth year student, Sean Friel, who has been selected to play in the Ulster u-17 squad to play in the inter-provincial tournament in Dublin this weekend. This is a great honour for Sean, who has served the school with distinction over the past number of years.

GAA:

The senior boys’ team were unlucky in their first outing of the year, going down against Moville away from home. The squad, who are training hard for the league campaign, will be hoping to turn things around in the weeks ahead.

The U-14 boys suffered defeat at the hands of Ballinamore this week, despite a strong performance from the lads. They will be hoping to record a win in their next outing, which is away to Bundoran next Friday.

School Prom:

The annual school prom was held last week in the Villa Rose in Ballybofey. The event was a great success and the students represented the school in a very positive manner. The school management would like to thank the organising committee for their hard work and dedication in organising this successful event.

Amazing Brains:

First Year students were treated to a fun and interactive workshop last Friday, as part of the ‘Amazing Brains’ programme. The programme is designed to teach students how they learn and how their brain works. It was a great opportunity for the students, who learned a lot about the power of learning. This type of workshop will be a great help in the years to come.

Swimming:

The first year swimming programme has begun. All first year students will travel to Derry to take part in swimming lessons over the next few months, as part of their PE programme. This programme has been running for a number of years and has always been a huge success. It is hoped that by the end of the programme, all first year students will be able to swim.

School Mass:
The first school mass of the year was held last Wednesday in the local chapel. The school community came together for a mass by Canon McGettigan and it was a great way to begin the school year. Students played a big part in the celebration, with the choir providing lovely music and students taking part in the liturgy.

AIB Build-a-Bank:

Staff from AIB came to the school last week to give a presentation to TY students about the AIB Build-a-Bank programme, which the school has taken part in since the programme was founded. We now await the 2015 school bank and we can’t wait to see what ideas the students have come up with for this year.
