Deele College had a stunning victory over St. Eunans with a 2:1 win after extra time yesterday Wednesday 26th November.
Goals from Brett Mc Ginty and Declan Sharkey sealed this important cup victory and the school are now through to the next round of the Ulster cup competition.
In what was a fierce battle, with both teams showing their physicality, it was Deele College who took the lead with a Brett Mc Ginty header from a corner.
The lead was short lived as Eunan’s equalised within two minutes to bring the score level. The game appeared to be heading towards extra time when St. Eunans were awarded a dubious penalty. However Sean Friel made a dramatic save to keep the scores level and bring the game to extra time.
Deele lost influential winger Oran Higgins who was taken to casualty via ambulance with a nasty gash to his ankle.
It appeared that penalties would be needed to seperate the two sides but former St. Eunan’s striker Declan Sharkey popped up with minutes to go to give Deele the lead which they held on to until the final whistle was blown.
